Pageant News: New Royalty in Corona, CA

Corona, CA: 36 Young ladies vied for the crown and title of Circle City Miss Corona. Held at SantiagoHigh School’s Theater Arts Center, in two shows 9 young ladies wear crowned.

With a few minor glitches, the Pageant started at 6:00pm with the singing of the National Anthem and a tribute to those veterans in the audience. The National Anthem was sang by John Tillery - The current Mr. Corona (Mr. Corona’s pageant held in July) and a member of the Chick-fil-a Quartet. Also on stage during the Veteran’s tribute and at the pageant to assist in escorting the young ladies on stage were several Marines on lone to us from 29 Palms Marine Base.

Each of the contestants competed in the following divisions: Interviews - which were taken earlier in the days. On stage this evening they competed in Sportswear, Gown and an on stage questions.

The pageant was judged by 8 judges:

Lucky Romero - has worked intimately with many celebrities and C-level corporate execs of Fortune 500 companies. His extensive marketing/sales, publicity and branding knowledge come from a 5 year apprenticeship with marketing genius and KISS front man GENE SIMMONS and entertainment veteran RICHARD ABRAMSON.

Michael Dean Shelton - is a Los Angeles philanthropist, activist, and socialite who has raised tens of millions of dollars for variety of charities and nonprofits centered around celebrity involvement. In addition, he is the CEO of At Our Table, a nonprofit he started in 2009 with the focus on advocacy and treatment for individuals battling eating disorders.

James Evans - Born and raised in Whittier, California, James Evans has proved himself as an actor with great versatility, in both television and film. Locally he Announces for the So. Cal Steelers football team , which plays locally here in Eastvalle during the Season. www.scsteelers.com

Sandra Vaughen - For 7 years she has been the Director of Education for Barbizon School of Modeling in Riverside and is currently the Promotional director for John Robert Powers, Acting and Modeling in Corona.

Daniel Farias - Comes from a business background. In a senior position with World Financial Group, has been helping everyday families in southern California by educating people about financial choices to pursue financial independence. Trains, mentors and coaches on personal development within his company and has a major passion to help people achieve dreams and goals.

Danielle Petty - started acting at the age of 4 on stage, where she fell in love with acting. She’s been in such films as Dead Air, Decomposing Tony Maslow, BTK Killer, has Guest starred on House MD as Thirteen’s mom.

Jamie Rios - has been involved in pageants for the past 20 years. He has Judged more the 100 pageants He is the founder and director for Mr. Cardinal City Contest and Miss Cardinal City Pageant.

Karen (Dunlap) Minnifield - She has been a pageant judge since 2001. She is a member of several organization ,Kiwanis Club, , Rotary Club and the Soroptimist Club. And she is currently the Chairperson for the “Budget and Finance” Committee for 15 So. California Lions Club Internationals. She is also the fundraising committee chairperson for “ORBIS” The flying Eye Hospital. She is a member of the Scholarship Council for Cal State San Bernardino as well as Victor Valley College.

Each of the contestants also participated in a photo contest where they were taken to a Horse Ranch in Riverside and dressed in Western wear took some unbelievable shots. You can view some of these photos on Circle City Miss Corona’s website www.misscoronapageant.com They were photographed by several photographers (Bill Lopez, Mike Osborn, Warren Haraki and Richard Tevarez) who then voted on who should be Miss Photogenic in each pre-teen through Miss Divisions. Winners of the photogenic contest were Ashley Coy in the Pre-teen Division, Carly Earlywine in the Jr. Teen Division, Susie Diaz in the Teen Division and Kara Knudsen in the Miss Division.

The contestants also competed in several contests that went on behind the scenes by outside companies in the area. Parkridge Dental Spa - Dr. Johnson located at 520 E Parkridge Ave in CoronaCorona. They awarded Briana Alverez with the Prettiest Hair award. The prize consisted of a gift bag of hair products. The Hotel Paseo located at 1805 W 6th St in Corona offered Birthday parties on their patio for the most tickets sold, which the pageant is still working on the totals. (Contact www.misscoronapageant.com if you company would like to participate in next years contest with special prizes) Miss Congeniality went to Hailee Harrison, Kylee Morrison, Kelly Agrey and Reylene Rodriguez, Justine Morin and Kasie Zukow. awarded several of our contestants the Prettiest Smile award. The award came with a gift Basket of dental products and a $100 Gift Certificate. The winners were: Stephanie Gutierrez, Kasie Zukow, Briana Alverez, Hailee Harris, and Carly Earlywine. Another company that made a special award was Developlus and Manufacturing company located in Corona. They awarded Briana Alverez with the Prettiest Hair award. The prize consisted of a gift bag of hair products. The Hotel Paseo located at 1805 W 6th St in Corona offered Birthday parties on their patio for the most tickets sold, which the pageant is still working on the totals. The public was also asked to go on line and vote for THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD which went to Kylee Harris - Pre-teen Division, Kelly Agrey - Jr. Division, Brianna Alverez - Teen Division and Amber Alexander - Miss Division. The over all winner of the peoples choice award went to Amber Alexander.

After all our special awards were given away and many tears shed as our 2008-2009 Circle City Miss Corona Court (McKenna Tyner, Nicole Baldwin, Natalie Dauer and Ashley Wenzel) said their goodbyes and thank yous, it was time to crown the 2009-2010 queens. Prior to announcing the winners Ashley Wenzel 2008-09 Circle City Miss Corona was crowned Circle City Miss Corona Ambassador. An honor given to all Circle City Miss Corona Queens giving up their titles as they have reached the highest level in the pageant and can no longer compete.

The 2009-2010 Circle City Miss Corona Queens are: Hailee Harris - Pre Teen Miss Corona, Rachelle Palmieri - Jr. Teen Miss Corona, Susie Diaz- Teen Miss Corona and Kara Knudsen - Miss Corona. Each of our contestants will Receive a $1000 scholarship.

Earlier in the day the Younger divisions were crowned with the following winners. Maddison Dean- Baby Miss Corona, Kaitlyn Delgadillo - Little Miss Corona, Kaitlyn Jones Perry - Toddler Miss Corona, Juline Padilla - Sweetheart Miss Corona and Kendra Agrey - Junior Miss Corona. Also receiving special awards in the younger divisions wee Kaitlyn Jones Perry - for Prettiest Face, Alyssa Del La Riva - Prettiest Eyes, Riley Borth- Prettiest Hair and Emmalyn Madrijaga received Miss Photogenic. Each will receive a $250 Scholarship.
