Lakeside fireworks

A fireworks show will take place on the Fourth of July over Fairmount Lake at Fairmount Park on Market Street just off Highway 60 in downtown Riverside. Organized by the Riverside Downtown Partnership, Fourth at Fairmount will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. July 4. It replaces the organization's Concert at the Courthouse. It was difficult to shade performers from the hot sun outside the historic downtown courthouse, said Janice Penner, partnership executive director. Festivities at the park will include performances by a patriotic choral group, a Dixieland band, and the Riverside Little Opera, as well as arts and crafts vendors, games and inflatables. Those attending are asked to bring a blanket or chairs for the grass or enjoy a meal catered by Marriott Riverside in a special seating area. Reservations are required for the meal. VIP tickets are $40 per person or $350 for a table of 10. Call 951-781-7335. The partnership is seeking sponsors for the event. Call Natasha Ferguson at 951-341-6550.
